GCSE check-ups

A check-up for every exam paper: GCSE Maths for AQA and Edexcel, International GCSE Maths for OxfordAQA, GCSE Combined and Triple Science for AQA, Edexcel and OCR Gateway, and international (IGCSE) science courses for Edexcel, Cambridge and OxfordAQA.

Maths

Choose your exam board. Each check-up takes about an hour.

AQA

GCSE Mathematics (8300). Paper 1 is non-calculator, and Papers 2 and 3 allow a calculator. Each check-up works for Foundation and Higher tier.

Edexcel

GCSE Mathematics (1MA1). Paper 1 is non-calculator, and Papers 2 and 3 allow a calculator. Each check-up works for Foundation and Higher tier.

OxfordAQA

International GCSE Mathematics (9260). Both exam papers allow a calculator and can test the whole course, so the two check-ups split the topics between them. Each works for Core and Extension tier.

Not sure of your exam board? Your maths teacher can tell you, or look at a past paper from school: it says AQA, Pearson Edexcel or OxfordAQA at the top.

Science

Choose your exam board, then your course and paper.

AQA GCSE Combined Science: Trilogy (8464), and Biology, Chemistry and Physics (8461, 8462, 8463).

Combined Science: Trilogy

One double-award GCSE from six papers. Each check-up takes about an hour.

Biology

Chemistry

Physics

Triple Science

Separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each check-up takes about an hour and 15 minutes.

Biology

Chemistry

Physics

Pearson Edexcel GCSE Combined Science (1SC0), and Biology, Chemistry and Physics (1BI0, 1CH0, 1PH0).

Combined Science

One double-award GCSE from six papers. Each check-up takes about an hour.

Biology

Chemistry

Physics

Triple Science

Separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each check-up takes about an hour and 15 minutes.

Biology

Chemistry

Physics

OCR GCSE Gateway Science: Combined Science A (J250), and Biology A, Chemistry A and Physics A (J247, J248, J249). Each check-up says which exam papers it matches.

Combined Science A

One double-award GCSE from six papers. Each check-up takes about an hour.

Biology

Chemistry

Physics

Triple Science

Separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each check-up takes about an hour and 15 minutes.

Biology

Chemistry

Physics

Cambridge IGCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics (0610, 0620, 0625) and their 9–1 versions (0970, 0971, 0972), Combined Science (0653), and Co-ordinated Sciences (Double Award) (0654, or 0973 for the 9–1 version).

Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Every exam paper tests the whole syllabus, so each subject has two check-ups that split the topics between them. Each takes about an hour. At the start, students choose Core or Extended. Grades are shown as A*–G, with the 9–1 grades next to them.

Biology

Chemistry

Physics

Combined Science (0653)

Every exam paper tests biology, chemistry and physics together, so there is one check-up for each science. Each takes about an hour. At the start, students choose Core or Extended.

Co-ordinated Sciences (Double Award) (0654)

Every exam paper tests biology, chemistry and physics together, so there is one check-up for each science. Each takes about an hour and 15 minutes. At the start, students choose Core or Extended. Grades are shown as double grades from A*A* to GG, with the 9–1 grades (0973) next to them.

OxfordAQA International GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics (9201, 9202, 9203), and Combined Science (Double Award) (9204).

Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Both exam papers can test the whole course, so each subject has two check-ups that split the topics between them. Each takes about an hour and 15 minutes. These courses have no tiers, so every student answers every question.

Biology

Chemistry

Physics

Combined Science (Double Award)

One check-up for each exam paper: Paper 1 is biology, Paper 2 chemistry and Paper 3 physics. Each takes about an hour. At the start, students choose Core or Extension tier.

Not sure which course you’re taking? If you’ll get three separate science GCSEs, it’s Triple Science. If you’ll get one double grade, such as 6-6, it’s Combined Science. Your science teacher can tell you your exam board, or look at a past paper from school. IGCSE students: the front of a past paper says Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, Cambridge IGCSE or OxfordAQA International GCSE.

Your answers save on the device you use, so finish each check-up on the same device and browser you started it on.
